To maintain the integrity of a masonry structure and ensure its weather resistance, mortar needs to be maintained. Tuckpointing is the method of maintenance used. Removing the mortar from the joints is the first step in the maintenance, and the joints need to be cut back to an adequate depth, to ensure a proper long-lasting repair.
Grinding mortar away from masonry with any power tool will produce a high amount of dust and debris. By using a vacuum attached to the cutting tool we prevent most of the dust generated.
After the final cleaning the JND Enterprises tuckpointed masonry will look like a newly built brick or stone wall.

Mortar is a cement for the masonry, a shield against water; whether its driving rain, melting snow or ice, it takes the abuse, protecting the masonry. It's essentially a glue that holds together the masonry that make up your walls and chimneys. Missing mortar leaves the brick or stone exposed to the elements, making them open to failure over time.
