You have to know which chemical to use, how to apply it and how long to let it work before you rinse it off. Many times the graffiti will come off but leave a shadow or "outline" where it was. You might even be able to read what was there by the remaining outline. It takes a different detergent to remove the shadow. Sometimes it takes more than one chemical for complete graffiti removal.

Our procedure is to use a caustic soda based detergent or solvent based stripper, followed by carefully pressure rinsing the detergent away along with the paint.
